NEW YORK, NY - PhotoPlus Expo (PPE) - October 20, 2005 - Datacolor, an
internationally known name in color technology, showcases the latest ColorVision
Spyder product features for the fast-growing digital projector market at one of the
most important industry events for imaging professionals, Photo Plus Expo (PPE).
The newly expanded ColorVision® Spyder2PROT Studio 2.0 is on display in Booth No.
1104 for the length of the show, held October 20 - 22, 2005 at Jacob Javits
Convention Center, in New York City.

Top market research firms for projection and display technologies are forecasting
that the $12 billion worldwide projections market will grow significantly with the
arrival of new high performing, brighter, more colorful, smaller and lighter
projection systems. These analysts predict that presentation front projection sales
alone will rise from the 3.1 million units sold in 2004 to as many as 12.9 million
units in 2009

Certainly, all sectors of the photography market as well as all digital enthusiasts
are interested in these computer-driven projectors - not only for their sharp
decline in cost but as vehicles to display images on large format screens. With
improved clarity, sharpness and the advent of more affordable high-end digital
projectors have made the idea of slide projectors all but obsolete.

As Matthew Chilton, product manager for the ColorVision business unit of Datacolor,
explains: "As LCD digital projectors come down in price, they become an integral
part of a photographers\' equipment. Yet challenges in projector color rendition have
remained considerable because there is no convenient interface to manage this

professionals no longer have to spend time blindly adjusting the controls of a
projector to get the colors right. As well as correcting the contrast and
brightness, the Spyder2T colorimeter and new 2.0 software scientifically measure
the Red-Green-Blue chromaticity values of the display screen. Those readings are
then stored as custom ICC profiles, and loaded to the video card as calibration
corrections," Chilton adds.
At the PhotoPlus Expo, visitors to Booth 1104 can learn more about the package's
award-winning monitor software that now comes with projector calibration for LCD and
DPL projectors. Spyder2PRO delivers precise tools for adjusting calibration
parameters for a single or multiple CRT, LCD and notebook- monitors to a common
standard. The software offers advanced features such as twice as fast read times,
built-in ambient light correction that automatically creates independent profiles
for Medium and High ambient light conditions, improved white-point correction
routines, automated black and white luminance adjustments, and improved methodology
for loading calibration data at start-up. A 'Profile Chooser' makes it easy to
select and change profiles. Multiple monitor calibration support is now available
for both Mac and Windows systems.
